Prairie Tale

Function-forward looks for consumers with access needs and a seated lifestyle.

The second look includes a stripe, pieced skirt with a elastic, gathered waist. The skirt includes stripes from the 100% cotton gingham and floral patterns.

The vest is made from 100% cotton denim twill, with a front and back yoke, chest pockets, side slits at the hem, and western inspired shoulder embroidery.

The first look of this collection includes a long sleeve lace shirt, layered under a ruffle babydoll top made from 100% cotton gingham and floral prints. They are paired with a wide leg pant of 100% cotton stripe. The pants feature a elastic and drawstring waistband and gathered cuffs for better access to the legs.

This technical flat of the denim vest shows the stitching details and a better look at the side slits that allow for better waist mobility.

The last look of this collection includes straight leg, distressed & embroidered jeans with a long sleeve, boat neck sweater.

Through my research I found that the most important part of pants for wheelchair users was the fit at the waist while seated. To accommodate the position, the rise is higher on the back compared to the front. I also exchanged front and back pockets for a cargo style thigh pocket, so it is easily accessible while seated. The legs remain accessible in these jeans due to the button up cuffs.
