Floral Fixture

An exploration using Optitex 3D, referencing historical floral prints.

Inspired by florals of the 17th century, this textile pattern involves large scale flowers, swans, and stripes.

The colors were chosen with the spring/summer season in mind. In three pastel colorways, this pattern is applied to evening wear in 100% silk taffeta.

The proposed consumer for this pattern and garment is a 30-40 year old woman. In the bridge price point, this piece is meant for black-tie or gala dressing.

The dress pattern this textile print is applied to was developed using Optitex 3D and a template that was altered to fit the designs needs. The print was applied using texture mapping.

Through 3D simulation, the garment and print is visualized on a model in the 100% silk taffeta it was designed for. In these examples, the drape of the garment can be seen clearly as well as how the textile print could be scaled and positioned.
